Sandvik will showcase some of its newest innovations in surface drilling, rock tools, stationary crushing and screening, and parts and services at Conexpo.

\n\n

The company will launch Ranger DX910i, its latest flagship top-hammer surface drill rig, together with new drilling tools. The shoulder-driven curved thread systems CT55 and CT67 increase productivity and reduce fuel consumption.

\n\n

The Ranger DX910i drill rig on display at Conexpo will be equipped with the new high-power rock drill RD930C, which expands the rig’s hole size range beyond existing DXi rock drill options.

\n\n

In addition, Sandvik will exhibit its electric concept surface drill rig, which demonstrates advanced technologies that will be featured on future Sandvik surface rigs to support more sustainable and energy-efficient drilling. Other products will include the Leopard DI650i, a surface drill simulator and the RockPulse system for optimising Ranger drilling results.

\n\n

Sandvik’s latest rock tools offerings will consist of Tundo RH650 down-the-hole hammer, Sandvik Alpha 340 top-hammer drilling tools, which feature an entirely new asymmetric thread, as well as LT90 top-hammer drilling tools. The company will also highlight its Carbide Recycling Program for recycling customers’ worn carbide tools, improving sustainability across the value chain.

\n\n

The technologically advanced Sandvik CH865i mid-range cone crusher will anchor the stationary crushing and screening display, which will also feature SAM by Sandvik, the ever-evolving ‘always on’ digital assistant to support operational excellence in crushing and screening plants, as well as the next generation Sandvik Automation and Connectivity System (ACS-c 4.3) for optimising crusher performance. Furthermore, the Sandvik CV217 vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher will be available, along with a screening media and wear protection.

\n\n

Sandvik’s parts and services exhibit will feature an interactive display introducing My Sandvik Productivity for Boom Drills, a telematics solution providing easy-to-read dashboards for faster, fact-based decision making. Visitors will experience a live demo of Sandvik’s Expert Off-Site, an on-demand web-based service that instantly connects customers with Sandvik experts remotely, minimising downtime costs typically associated with waiting for technical support. Plus, the company will highlight its extended warranty solutions and comprehensive equipment rental offering.

Arto Halonen has been appointed as Robit Group CEO, effective 15 March 2022. He succeeds Tommi Lehtonen, who recently stepped down to take up new challenges.

\n\n

Mr Halonen previously served as the company’s chief financial officer (CFO) and chief operating officer (COO), roles he held since March 2020. Prior to that, he was with Metso Minerals for about five years.

\n\n

On Mr Lehtonen’s departure, Harri Sjöholm, chairman of the board of directors at Robit, said, ”I would like to thank Tommi both on my own and on behalf of the board of directors for his input for Robit and the company’s growth exceeding net sales of €100 million. We wish Tommi all the best in his future duties.”

\n\n

In the meantime, Ville Peltonen has been named Robit’s interim CFO, replacing Mr Halonen. Mr Peltonen is also a member of the company’s management team.

\n\n

Mr Peltonen started at Robit as group controller in 2020. He has been responsible for the company’s global accounting and group reporting.

\n\n

“It is my pleasure to have Ville as a close working partner. Ville is a precisive and competent financial management expert,” said Mr Halonen.

\n\n

Based in Finland, Robit supplies drilling consumables for applications in underground and surface mining, construction, geotechnical and well drilling. The company’s offering is divided into three product categories: top hammer, down the hole, and geotechnical.

\n\n

Robit has sales and service points in eight countries, as well as an active sales network in more than 100 countries. The company’s manufacturing facilities are located in Finland, South Korea, Australia and the UK.

The new RDX5 rock drill from Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is designed for underground drill rigs. It is a replacement for the company’s popular HLX5 rock drill model, which is said to have a longstanding reputation for being the world’s most reliable rock drill.

\n\n

The RDX5 rock drill has a significantly increased minimum service interval than the previous HLX5. Its design follows that of the HLX5, with a minimal number of moving parts and pressurised seams. Innovations have also been made to several components, such as the flushing head, the gear housing and body cylinder, to deliver a completely new level of durability for internal items.

\n\n

In addition, the new RDX5 has a new percussion package and patented piston design that enables improved energy efficiency. Ideal for face and long hole drilling, as well as rock bolting, the new RDX5 rock drill is interchangeable with HLX5 rock drills in all applications where used.

\n\n

The RDX5 rock drill is now available as an option for new Sandvik equipment and to replace existing HLX5 through local Sandvik Parts & Services.
